Daesh chemical weapons expert killed by air strike: Pentagon

The Pentagon says a US-led airstrike has killed a “chemical weapons expert” working for Daesh in northern Iraq.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Pentagon’s Central Command said the airstrike was conducted last Saturday near the city of Mosul, killing Abu Malik, who once worked for former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.

The expert reportedly worked under Saddam Hussein's regime before joining Al-Qaeda and then Daesh. (Photo:AFP/File)
